Rennes

rennes_muro

With an important role in the past as cross road during the Roman age, today Rennes is a pleasant university town and the capital of Brittany. The suggestive old town preserves the characteristic maze of narrow medieval streets, miraculously escaped from the huge fire of 1720, accidentally started by a drunk carpenter, which destroyed most of the tow.
Absolutely to see the Palace of the Parliament, today Palace of Justice, symbol of Brittany. The building survived another bad fire in 1994. After 5 years recovering works the Palace returned to its past splendour. The rooms, finely decorated, can be visited with guided tours of one hour and a half.
