With an important role in the past as cross road during the Roman age, today Rennes is a pleasant university town and the capital of Brittany. The suggestive old town preserves the characteristic maze of narrow medieval streets, miraculously escaped from the huge fire of 1720, accidentally started by a drunk carpenter, which destroyed most of the tow.

The Parc du Thabor deserves a visit in every season of the year. Access to this relaxing oasis is free. The park stretches out on a surface of 10 hectares, and hosts an interesting botanic garden, a beautiful French garden, fountains, statues, a rose garden and a big aviary.
